Welcome to The Korean Route: Authentic Stories from a Seoul Local

Hello, welcome to ‘The Korean Route’.

You can call me ‘Liw.’ LIW stands for ‘Life is Work.’ I chose this name because I believe in approaching every aspect of life with the same dedication to learning and taking action as I do in my professional career.

As a blogger residing in Seoul, I have long documented Korea’s best restaurants and travel destinations. By day, I am an ordinary Korean office worker in the IT solutions field. I have launched The Korean Route to connect with friends from around the world visiting Korea

Why did I start this blog?

The internet is overflowing with information about traveling in Korea. However, most of this information focuses heavily on famous tourist spots or heavily advertised restaurants. I created this blog hoping that foreign travelers visiting Korea can experience not just ‘tourist restaurants,’ but the real places where Koreans themselves gather after work to share drinks with colleagues, or the hidden getaways where families quietly escape on weekends.

Who is this blog for?

  • Those seeking authentic local Korean hidden gems not found in guidebooks
  • Those needing practical survival tips for navigating Korea’s complex subway system, delivery culture, and restaurant etiquette
  • Those wanting accurate and honest cultural insights from a Korean perspective
  • Those wanting to travel the Korean route following locals’ paths instead of cliché tourist itineraries

What I’ll be sharing going forward

Through this blog, I plan to share the following information without holding back.

  1. K-Food & Nightlife: Authentic restaurants in Seoul and regional areas that I’ve personally visited and verified
  2. Local Travel Spots: Destinations where you can feel Korea’s charm, even if they aren’t flashy
  3. Survival Tips: Practical knowledge to help you avoid awkward situations while traveling in Korea

In Closing

The posts on this blog will focus on straightforward, practical information rather than flashy descriptions. I sincerely hope my records can make your travels in Korea richer and more meaningful.

If you have any questions, please feel free to leave a comment anytime. I’ll answer them with care from a local’s perspective.

Thank you for visiting The Korean Route.
